In 2016, Shane Mengel founded the private investment office, Morgan Hunter Capital LLC (“MHC”) to make debt and equity investments. Shane T. Mengel
Private Investor and Founder
Prior to founding MHC, Mr. Mengel had a 17-year career at Ares Management (“Ares”) after joining their Tradeable Credit Group (“TCG”) in 1999. There he served as Co-Head of Credit Research for TCG whereby he oversaw a team of approximately 40 credit analysts and all related research activities in Los Angeles and London. While in this capacity, he also managed a portfolio of leveraged loans, high yield bonds and post-reorganization equities in excess of $3 billion across TCG’s credit investment strategies. Prior to MHC and Ares, Mr. Mengel worked at Price Waterhouse LLP in the Transaction Services practice of Los Angeles and in the Business Assurance practice of Grant Thornton in Philadelphia.
Mr. Mengel previously served as a Board Advisor to FinDox, a fintech startup, and an Advisory Committee member for Brouwerij West, a micro-brewery based in Southern California. He also served nine years on the Board of Directors and Finance/Audit Committees of the Ruffed Grouse and American Woodcock Societies, two Pennsylvania-based conservation organizations founded in 1961 and focused on creating healthier forests for an abundance of wildlife.
Mr. Mengel graduated from Villanova University and remains involved with his alma mater through the Undergraduate Mentor Program at the Villanova School of Business and the broader University’s Alumni Interview Program for west-coast based scholarship applicants.
